TRANSIT AGENCIES RECEIVING THREE GRANT AWARDS

The Umpqua Public Transportation District is receiving nearly $3 million from the Oregon Department of Transportation’s Public Transportation Division for several new vehicles and property development.

General Manager Cheryl Cheas said this is through the 2022-2024 Discretionary Solicitation for Vehicle Replacements, Bus and Bus Facilities, and Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities program. Cheas said UPTD will get just under $810,000 to replace six vehicles and nearly $2.1 million to develop property for bus parking and preparation for a preventative maintenance facility. UPTD will also receive $80,000 to cover increasing preventative maintenance costs.

The three awards total $2,977,903. Grants are expected to be executed July first with projects beginning shortly after that.
