A petition has been filed seeking to recall Jasmine Geyer from the Winston-Dillard School District Board of Directors.
Douglas County Clerk Daniel Loomis said the document was filed on May 3rd.
Chief Petitioner Jonetta Ruppert told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN the petition was approved on May 9th and the effort has been active since then.
Ruppert’s statement regarding the recall said, “There are many good people in our community. People who strive to make our community better through service to one another in an inclusive and non-partisan spirit. Unfortunately, as we have come to witness since her election to the Winston-Dillard School Board. Jasmine Geyer has not shown herself to be one of those people. Her actions and words have been divisive and unethical. She has sought to sow seeds of contention through her conduct during board meetings, as well as in her public social media posts”.
In response, Geyer gave News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN a statement. Geyer said, “Last week I was notified by several parents and staff from The Winston Dillard School District that a recall effort had been filed against me for my position on the school board. As a longtime employer and volunteer in our community, I am keenly aware that there is a “right” person for every position. While I am just as passionate about advocating for parental rights in education and higher education standards as I was a year ago when I began serving, if the community who elected me feels that I am no longer the right fit for this position I will accept that without hesitation”.
Loomis said petitioners must obtain 640 valid signatures by August 1st to move the effort forward.

There are many good people in our community. People who strive to make our community better through service to one another in an inclusive and non-partisan spirit. Unfortunately, as we have come to witness since her election to the Winston-Dillard School Board, Jasmine Geyer has not shown herself to be one of those people. Her actions and words have been divisive and unethical. She has sought to sow seeds of contention through her conduct during board meetings, as well as in her public social media posts.
It is interesting that for someone who has placed herself inside our community that neither of Ms. Geyer’s children attend public school, or even play sports within the district. I have not seen her present at any school or town events. What part of our school district she is ‘invested’ in. What her purpose has seemed to be is to stir the pot instead of focusing on business for the betterment of the district. She has misled many members of the community, facilitating an illusion of power the school board does not have.
I would ask those within the district to examine the information on the following website RecallGeyer.com for themselves. Reflect on her actions and the viewpoints she displays. She is entitled to whatever beliefs and opinions she should choose. However, as an elected official, her actions represent our district. Her actions have lacked basic civility and respect. A committee of people from our community have gathered together to discuss the heavy impact Ms. Geyer has been in our school district. We have united with a common goal to bring decency back to our district.

Last week I was notified by several parents and staff from The Winston Dillard School District that a recall effort had been filed against me for my position on the school board. As a longtime employer and volunteer in our community, I am keenly aware that there is a “right” person for every position. While I am just as passionate about advocating for parental rights in education and higher education standards as I was a year ago when I began serving, if the community who elected me feel that I am no longer the right fit for this position I will accept that without hesitation. In the interim, I will use this opportunity to reflect and work on anything I can do to better serve our community in whatever term I have left on the school board. Thank you!
