The Douglas County Museum has its Wine Exhibit 2022 now on display.

A release said it is designed to show the history of wine and its amazing growth in the Umpqua Valley, starting in the mid 1800’s. The exhibit has four distinct parts:

*Pre-prohibition: Highlighting the very beginning of the wine culture in the area, including ship captains importing wines from France, Spain and Italy up the Umpqua River to Scottsburg. It also highlights the very first grapes grown in the valley.

*Wine production: This section shows how wine is made by displaying the very equipment that the first local winemakers used.

*Innovators: This section highlights the innovating spirit that started the wine industry and continues to drive it forward today.

*Wine Pioneers: This features the pioneers in the post-prohibition years and how they trailblazed a path for everyone to follow.

The museum is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for seniors and veterans and $2 for students ages 5-17.
