A Days Creek man was jailed after attempting to escape capture on Monday night.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at about 10:45 p.m. a deputy received information that 25-year old John Lander was at Seven Feathers in Canyonville. When deputies saw Lander, the man took off running. He was told to stop, but kept going, heading towards a residence in the 200 block of Gazley Bridge Road.
Deputies lost sight of him and were unable to locate him. Another deputy eventually found Lander laying in some bushes on the property. He was detained without incident. The report said Lander started to breath at a rapid rate and wouldn’t respond. Medics ultimately arrived and transported the suspect to CHI Mercy Medical Center. Once he was medically cleared, he was taken to the jail.
Lander was initially charged with third-degree escape and for nine warrants. Other charges were added from an April 24th incident, which also began at Seven Feathers. Bail was set at $190,000.
