Staff with Douglas County Fire District No. 2 are now flushing and testing fire hydrants around their service area.

A release said that includes the communities of Dixonville, Green, Melrose, Wilbur, Garden Valley, Umpqua and unincorporated areas near the City of Roseburg. Testing is being conducted daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Water discoloration is possible throughout this process depending on how bad the sediment on water mains is, and how long the hydrant has to flow. District No. 2 said regardless of how it may appear, the water is safe to drink. Those experiencing issues with their water during that time, should allow the water to run through their faucets until it clears.
