The Douglas County Board of Commissioners celebrated Older Americans Month by issuing a proclamation to honor seniors, at their weekly business meeting on Wednesday.

Older Americans Month was established in 1963 by President John F. Kennedy and the National Council of Senior Citizens.

The County release said the Commissioners are grateful for the work done by those who dedicate their lives to helping older residents in the county. Proclamation certificates were presented to fifteen local agencies and organizations.
