A Glendale man was jailed after allegedly trying to elude a Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputy on foot, on Monday night.

A DCSO report said just after 7:00 p.m. the deputy was parked near Glendale Elementary School and was watching a male and a female walk around between the buildings. The deputy had suspicions that the male was a man who had a warrant. The suspect was allegedly belligerent and tried to walk away, saying he would turn himself in later. Ultimately, he reportedly tried to run away but the deputy deployed a taser which had little effect.

The suspect continued to run and the deputy followed him, catching up a short time later, where the man gave up in the 700 block of Pacific Avenue. 39-year old Jason Evans was charged with eluding on foot, possession of a stolen vehicle, and for the warrant. Evans was also arrested on two past cases, where he was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and for first-degree burglary. Bail was set at $368,750.
