A Roseburg man was jailed on robbery and theft charges by Roseburg Police on Thursday.

An RPD report said at 9:30 p.m. 37-year old Jason Cornutt allegedly tried to steal items from a business in the 700 block of Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard. An employee tried to confront him to retrieve the items and Cornutt allegedly pushed him and left the store with the stolen merchandise.

The report said Cornutt was arrested and taken to jail. The merchandise was returned to the business. An inventory of the suspect’s backpack reportedly yielded a violation amount of methamphetamine.

Cornutt was charged with third-degree counts of robbery and theft and for a violation amount of meth. Bail was set at $51,250.
