In the KQEN Business Spotlight:
A longtime restaurant building was demolished in the Roseburg Marketplace on Monday, to make way for a Chipotle Mexican Grill.
The location, near the corner of Northwest Stewart Parkway and Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard, was leased by Loggers Roseburg Tap House in 2013. That business ultimately plans to relocate as part of a larger future development near the Winchester Dam. Not wanting to renew a long-term lease, Loggers closed that location on March 27th and is in the midst of renovating part of a building on Northeast Stephens Street, behind a Red Barn Dispensary. Owner Sam Gross told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that the new location will likely open near the end of May. Gross said there are “too many moving pieces at the moment to nail down a date”.
Prior to Loggers, the building housed a Beef & Brew restaurant for many years.
Ricky Hoffman, Associate Planner and GIS Technician for the City of Roseburg Community Development Department, said the mall ownership, Argonaut Investments LLC, obtained both the demolition permit and a permit for new construction. Chipotle plans to build a 2,315 square foot restaurant with interior seating, a drive-through and a 300 square foot outdoor seating area. A company spokesperson earlier said that the location is expected to open sometime this winter.
