Two people were taken to the hospital after a single-vehicle accident on Monday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 8:00 a.m. the 18-year old driver said she was driving too fast headed into a corner in the 3,000 block of Fort McKay Road in the Umpqua area. The woman said as she started to slow her vehicle, it fish-tailed. The sedan got off onto the gravel and the driver couldn’t recover, causing the vehicle to roll into the ditch.

Both the driver and a 23-year old passenger was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center, as a precaution. They were treated and released according to a hospital spokesperson.  About a hundred feet of fence and a telephone box were taken out, in the wreck.
