Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed a man for an alleged stolen vehicle incident on Sunday.
A DCSO report said a victim used to live at a location in the 100 block of Decoy Lane in south county. She still has property at that address and has been working with the new owner to get her belongings back, including a pickup. The victim saw her vehicle for sale on Craigslist on Sunday. The deputy saw the listing as well, which said the vehicle was on Weaver Avenue.
A 60-year old man was one of three men who came back to that address with the pickup. He claimed he didn’t go to the Decoy Lane address to get it, but had gotten it from the end of Broadway. The man said the other two men claimed to have the title, but not with them at that time. Since the suspect had no documentation he was cited for possession of a stolen vehicle.
The deputy later found one of the other men on North Myrtle. 65-year old Rudolph Paquette said he went to the Decoy Lane location with the other two men, but claimed he “didn’t do the stealing”. He was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, first-degree theft and for a violation amount of unlawful possession of methamphetamine. He was detained on $100,000 bail.
