A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect starting at 5:00 p.m. Sunday for central Douglas County and surrounding areas.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said accumulating snow above 2,500 feet is expected. Total snow accumulations of four to eight inches with some of the highest areas seeing up to eighteen inches. Winds are expected to gust as high as 45 miles per hour.

This includes Canyon Creek Pass on Interstate Five, and other higher elevation areas including in Josephine County and eastern Curry County.

Forecasters said travel could be very difficult to impossible. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility.

The Advisory remains in place until 11:00 p.m. Monday.
