A motorcyclist escaped capture by the Winston Police on Wednesday night.

Sergeant Mike Miller said at about 11:20 p.m. officers saw a black street bike with a single rider on Carnes Road near Austin Road in Green. Miller said they were finally able to catch up with it near Hebard Avenue and activated their overhead lights. The rider did not stop and a pursuit ensued.

Miller said the rider continued through Green until reaching Carnes. Once on Carnes, speeds reached 86 miles per hour just before reaching Highway 99 and making a left turn to the east. Miller said the pursuit was terminated due to the speeds in a residential area.
