Winston Police are investigating theft and criminal mischief at a construction site.

Officer Jordan Guthrie said Wednesday morning at about 7:30 a.m. officers were dispatched to the new construction site of Douglas County Farmers Co-op on Highway 42, in regards to the theft of miscellaneous construction tools. Guthrie said the value of those tools is estimated to be over $3,000.

WPD is still actively investigating the incident. Anyone with information asked to call 679-8706.

The release said incidents like this are happening more frequently. People engaged in these activities are often able to get through heavy locking devices and other measures taken by the property owners to protect their valuables. WPD is asking those with trailers, cargo trailers, and mobile construction site offices, to place them in a well-lit area, with some type of security system or security camera.
