In the KQEN Cultural Spotlight:

“Sense & Sensibility” is a new play by Kate Hamill, which will open soon at the Rose Theater at Roseburg High School.

Theatre & Film Studies teacher Camille Smicker will direct the production, which is based on Jane Austen’s novel. Smicker said called an “unconditional delight” and “irresistible theater” by the press, “Sense & Sensibility” examines the reactions to society’s pressures in a playful and sometimes rowdy way.

Smicker said it is the first main stage production coming out of the pandemic. She is hoping to fill the Rose Theatre for every performance to support the students who have not been able to do productions like this for the last two years.

Performances will be April 8th, 9th, 14th, 15th at 7:00 p.m. and April 16th at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students with a valid student ID. Those under age 6 will be admitted for free. Tickets are available online at: https://www.showtix4u.com/event-details/61715. They can also be purchased at the Rose Theater ahead of each performance using cash, check or a credit card.
