Roseburg Police jailed a man for an alleged theft incident on Tuesday.

The RPD report said shortly after 8:30 a.m. the 39-year old was observed concealing food from a business in the 3100 block of Northeast Stephens Street, before taking off and running out of the store. The suspect was found near Hughes Street and taken into custody.

The man’s probation officer was contacted regarding the alleged theft and sent a detainer to Corrections to have the suspect lodged. He was held for third-degree theft and for the probation violation and was detained without bail.
