A teenager identified as the suspect in a Saturday shooting in Eugene, was located at a residence in the Roseburg area on Monday afternoon.

Sergeant Tom Speldrich of the Lane County Sheriff’s Office told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that 16-year old Elijah James Grinstead was taken into custody without incident and lodged at the Douglas County Juvenile Detention Center.

An LCSO release said Grinstead had allegedly shot and wounded another juvenile known to him, at a residence. An extensive search by Eugene area law enforcement agencies failed to find the suspect. Investigators then turned to the juvenile’s ties to the Roseburg area.

LCSO thanked the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office for their partnership, saying that DCSO played an “instrumental role” in the case.
