The driver was hurt in a single vehicle accident on Friday.
A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at about 11:45 a.m. the 25-year old man was headed northbound on Dole Road near Myrtle Creek, when his vehicle left the roadway, went over a cliff, and into the South Umpqua River. The driver managed to climb up two embankments and the train tracks before someone found him lying on the ground.
The man was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center for treatment. He was later transferred to PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield. His condition is not currently available. His vehicle was towed from the scene.
