As mask requirements are lifted in Oregon, the Oregon Health Authority is encouraging residents to get vaccinated against influenza.

The OHA is reporting a late-season rise in flu cases. According to OHA data, 3.1% of influenza tests were positive last week, a rise from the 2.5% of positive cases the week before. Positive flu test during the week of Feb. 6-12 were at .6%.

Anyone ages 6 months and older is eligible for the flu vaccine, including pregnant women.

The flu vaccine will not protect against COVID-19 and the OHA suggests getting the flu vaccine and the COVID-19 vaccine, both of which are available from health care providers, local health departments and many pharmacies in Oregon.
