Library to Host Virtual Program with Solar Advocate

Roseburg Public Library will have a Facebook Live streaming event to discuss sustainable practices with community solar advocate Julie Williams on Thursday March 31st.

Williams is the founder of the grassroots non-profit Seed for the Sol.

The organization works to remove financial barriers to residential solar power and received the Celebrate Corvallis Good Steward of the Planet Award in 2015 and the Benton County Environmental Award in 2018. Williams recently retired from Corvallis High School and is dedicating her time to growing the Seeds for the Sol model for providing energy equity throughout Oregon.

The release said during the library program, participants will learn how to calculate their carbon footprint and discuss steps they can take to decrease emissions. Other aspects related to solar power will be discussed as well.

The presentation will be followed by a question and answer time moderated by library staff. It will begin at 6:30 p.m. Speaker questions can be submitted before the event to: lrathe@cityofroseburg.org or by calling 492-7052.
