The community is invited to the Douglas County commissioners Candidates Forum happening tonight.

All the candidates running for a commissioner’s seat have been invited to participate in the first ever non-partisan virtual event hosted by the local Democratic Party.

Eight of the eleven total candidates have confirmed they will attend the event, as will the three incumbent commissioners who are all running for re-election.

The event will also be livestreamed on Facebook.

An informational release from Kevin Hansberger of the Douglas County Democratic Party said while there are currently no democrats running for the non-partisan commissioners’ seats, they are hosting the event as an opportunity for voters in the county to learn more about the current candidates and their views for the county.

Hansberger said, “They may be the most powerful elected positions that we get a say about, locally.”
