A Canyonville man was charged with a weapon violation by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday.

A DCSO report said at about 10:30 p.m. units responded to the 500 block of South Main Street in Canyonville after multiple callers said they heard gunshots in the area. While in route, a caller from a tavern said that 31-year old Alexander Owen had just been trespassed from the bar.

After Owen left, he reportedly fired off a gun due to being upset from being trespassed. Units checked the area but were initially unable to locate him.

Deputies responded to the man’s residence where he eventually came out. He was initially taken into custody for a warrant. The report said a search of his residence revealed a .22 pistol with signs that it recently had been fired. Owen eventually admitted to leaving the bar upset and firing off three rounds into the creek nearby.

Owen was also charged with unlawful use of a weapon and second-degree disorderly conduct. Bail was set at $15,000.
