On Wednesday Governor Kate Brown visited the Burns Paiute Tribe.
A release said Brown was joined by Tribal Council Chair Diane Teeman, as well as other tribal members. Brown toured important Tribal sites, received a presentation on North Paiute traditional culture and learned about the Burns Paiute vision for ecosystem wellness.
While in Burns, the Governor visited the Harney Education Service District’s Early Learning Center. The Governor was given a tour of the campus, joining a learning activity with 4-year old children and their teachers in one of several Pre-K classrooms.
Brown also toured the West Ridge Place affordable housing development in Hines and learned about additional affordable housing projects that are planned for the community and supported with funding from Oregon Housing and Community Services.
The Governor concluded her visit to Harney County with a tour of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge.
