A Glide man has died following a recent pedestrian versus auto accident in Roseburg.

Sergeant Daniel Allen of the Roseburg Police said last Thursday at approximately 1:20 p.m. RPD and emergency personnel responded to the report of a pedestrian hit in the 2000 block of Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard.

Allen said a preliminary investigation revealed that a sports car operated by a Roseburg man was traveling eastbound on the street when it struck 75-year old Jonathan Kurtz, who was walking within the lanes of travel. Allen told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN it appears that Kurtz had left his vehicle and had gone out to pick up something that was in the roadway.

Kurtz was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield with serious injuries. He was later pronounced deceased. The motorist was not hurt and remained at the scene, cooperating with law enforcement.
