DRIVER JAILED, PASSENGER CITED, FOLLOWING POLICE PURSUIT

The driver was jailed and the passenger was cited following a police pursuit early Saturday.

A report from Myrtle Creek Police said at about 1:30 a.m.an officer attempted to stop a vehicle for failing to signal and failing to drive within its lane as it came off Dole Road onto Main Street. The sedan failed to yield near the Myrtle Creek exit of Interstate Five and continued south. The officer initiated a pursuit about a mile later. A Douglas County Sheriff’s deputy successfully spiked three tires on the vehicle near Gazley Road. The sedan yielded a short time later.

The 51-year old female driver was jailed for attempt to elude. Bail was set at $50,000. The woman was released on Monday. The passenger was cited for carrying concealed weapons as he allegedly had a bag that contained drug paraphernalia and a firearm. He was released after the citations were issued.
