In the KQEN Cultural Spotlight:

A unique fundraiser will begin with a show opening on Friday at the Umpqua Valley Arts Center on West Harvard in Roseburg.

The Umpqua Symphony Association kickstarts a year-round celebration of the Douglas County Youth Orchestra’s 25th anniversary. 6 stringed instruments that served their lifespan are transformed into artist-rendered works of art by 6 of Oregon’s finest local artists. The instruments include 1 cello and 5 violins.

The premier will run from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Student Gallery at UVA. Instruments will remain on display through March 25th. The unique instruments will be available for sale throughout the year. Proceeds will benefit the DCYO.
