DRIVER HURT IN HIGHWAY WRECK

The driver was hurt in a highway wreck on Tuesday.

A report from Oregon State Police said just before 4:00 p.m. the 64-year Idaho man was headed westbound on Highway 38, about 5 miles west of Elkton when his sedan crossed the centerline and left the roadway. The vehicle crashed head-on into a tree and came to rest on the driver’s side, down a small embankment.

The driver complained of pain and had abrasions and lacerations from his broken-out window. The man told a trooper that he has a heart condition that he felt coming on and tried to pull the sedan over before he passed out, but was not successful.

The driver was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center. He is in fair condition at last check according to a hospital spokesperson.
