A Sutherlin man was jailed for alleged weapon violations on Monday.

A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at 5:00 p.m. a deputy contacted a man during a traffic stop in the 500 block of Alder Street in Yoncalla. 25-year old Chance Downs was allegedly found in possession of a short barrel rifle and a concealed handgun. A violation amount of heroin was also allegedly found in his possession.

Downs was charged with unlawful possession of a short barrel rifle and unlawful concealment of a firearm along with unlawful possession of a violation amount of heroin. Bail was set at $160,250.
