DRIVER HOSPITALIZED FOLLOWING EARLY SATURDAY WRECK

A driver was hospitalized following an early morning wreck on Saturday.

An Oregon State Police report said at 4:35 a.m. an 18-year old man was driving a sedan southbound on Interstate 5 going up Roberts Mountain, when he drove into the rear of a commercial motor vehicle. The vehicle hit was also in the right truck lane with its flashers on while driving slowly up the hill.

The sedan driver told a trooper that he had fallen asleep. He was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center before being transferred to PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield. His condition is not currently available.
