MAN JAILED FOLLOWING PURSUIT

A Roseburg man was jailed following a pursuit early Sunday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just before 3:00 a.m. a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for traffic violations and possible DUII in the area of Garden Valley Boulevard and Moore Avenue in Roseburg. A pursuit ensued and the pickup went west eventually heading out Melrose Road before it turned and headed north on Melqua Road.

The vehicle was spiked at Melqua Road and Iverson Road. The vehicle continued east on Fort McKay Road and was again spiked. The pickup continued south on Interstate 5 and was spiked a third time about 3 miles north of Winchester. The pursuit continued on the freeway until the driver exited at the fairgrounds.

33-year old Steven White was taken into custody without incident. White told the deputy that he ran because he was wanted by police. The suspect was charged with attempting to elude a police officer, recklessly endangering another person, reckless driving, and for multiple warrants. Bail was set at $127,500.
