A Cottage Grove woman was jailed after a police chase on Thursday.

A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at about 9:30 p.m. a deputy saw a sedan traveling southbound on Goodrich Highway in the Oakland area. The operator made a traffic violation while making a turn onto John Long Road in the 2,000 block. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and contacted the driver, Amanda Doak.

The report said the 23-year old had multiple warrants and was ordered to exit her vehicle. Doak refused claiming that she actually was not under arrest. The suspect then fled the traffic stop at as high a rate of speed as her vehicle would allow. Doak traveled northbound onto Eagle Valley Road at which time the deputy initiated a pursuit. Doak headed onto southbound Interstate 5, eventually got off the freeway but then turned around and went northbound on the freeway. Doak exited at the Elkhead interchange at milepost 154 and traveled westbound on Elkhead Road until her vehicle stopped running in the 1,000 block.

The woman was given multiple commands to exit her vehicle, which she refused. K9 Eros was deployed inside the vehicle, resulting in a successful K9 bite and the woman’s surrender.

Doak was evaluated at CHI Mercy Medical Center then taken to Corrections. She was charged with attempting to elude a police officer in a vehicle, third-degree escape, resisting arrest, and for two warrants. She was held without bail.
