A 3rd candidate has entered the race for Douglas County Commissioner Position 1.

On February 9th, Diana Fletcher filed for the seat currently held by Chris Boice. Fletcher said she was motivated to seek the position because, “During these difficult, disruptive, uncertain times, we need confident, straight forward leadership to accomplish our County priorities and future plans. I know my abundant years in business ownership and participation in local, state and regional government services in both prosperous and difficult economic times will be an asset to our Douglas County community”.

Fletcher said she has owned businesses in Alaska, Washington and Oregon. She said her government service has included being the Local, State and Regional Chairman for the Alaska Job Service Employer Committee. Fletcher was a Leavenworth, Washington Planning Commissioner and is the former Chair for the Winston Planning Commission.

Fletcher said she moved to the county 18 years ago and appreciates all the outdoor fun in all the seasons. She has been a real estate broker for 21 years in Oregon and currently works for Century 21 The Neil Company Real Estate.

Along with Boice and Fletcher, Marcus Black has also filed for the position.

March 8th is the deadline to file for offices being voted on in the May Primary Election.
