A Roseburg man was jailed in a recent identity theft case, by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
A DCSO report said on February 3rd, the 37-year old allegedly purchased tires from a business in Tri-City on the tab of a local company. The suspect claimed to be an employee and said the tires were needed for the company’s parts car. He had the business put four new tires on his vehicle.
A deputy was able to review footage and based on prior contacts with that driver, identified the suspect.
The suspect was taken into custody on Tuesday. Charges included identity theft, computer crime, and second-degree counts of theft and theft by deception. Bail was set at $112,500. The man was released early Wednesday.
