A Canyonville man was jailed on a felony assault charge on Monday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 11:30 a.m. a deputy was dispatched to a physical disturbance in the 500 block of Fairchild Street in Canyonville. A victim said the suspect had hit her twice, open handed in the face. She said it had occurred in the presence of minor children. The victim had injuries consistent with what she described.

The 20-year old suspect admitted to striking the victim. He was charged with 4th degree assault. Bail was set at $50,000.
