During the recent annual membership meeting of the Association of O&C Counties, Executive Director Rocky McVay announced that he plans to retire this summer.

A release said McVay is only the third full time director of AOCC since 1925. He has served in that capacity for 26 years. Prior to being appointed as Executive Director, McVay served 3 4-year terms as a Curry County Commissioner. During that time, he served as AOCC Secretary Treasurer and nine years as president of the organization.

McVay said a lot has changed since he took the job in the mid-90s. While he still loves coming to work every morning, McVay said it’s time to find someone with the passion to understand and defend the 1937 O&C Act. He said the act directs sustained management on the O&C land base that provides multiple forest values that include recreation, clean water, wildlife habitat and maintaining forest health while producing sustainable commodities and jobs for the communities and providing shared revenues for counties to provide services.

The release said the AOCC Executive Committee has opened the application process to fill the Executive Director position. They will be accepted starting February 15th and continuing until the position is filled.
