A driver evaded capture in a chase with Sutherlin Police on Wednesday.

Information from SPD said just after 11:30 p.m. an officer was investigating the report of a suspicious vehicle at the dog park in the 600 block of Maple. The officer found the vehicle in question but then it took off at a high rate of speed. A pursuit ensued for reckless driving. A vehicle matching the same description had been called in earlier for reckless driving as well.

The report said the pursuit went south on Taylor to Interstate 5, then onto Highway 99 at the Winchester exit, before turning east onto North Bank Road and then to Highway 138 east to Little River. The officer lost sight of the vehicle on Buckhorn Road. The sedan was occupied by two men.
