Roseburg Police jailed a man for an alleged assault on Tuesday.

An RPD report said at 10:40 a.m. officers responded to the 1000 block of West Lookingglass Road for a possible physical disturbance. Contact was made with the victim who said 41-year Justin Custer had been hitting her and had left bruises on her left calf and given her a black eye.

Officers learned there was an active no contact order and an active restraining order against Custer. The report said when officers attempted to place him under arrest, he stiffened up his body, preventing officers from putting him in handcuffs. After a brief struggle, Custer was taken into custody.

Charges include fourth-degree assault, resisting arrest and for violating the two orders. Bail was set at $17,500.
