COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ISSUE VETERANS DAY PROCLAMATION

November 5, 2021 3:50 a.m.

The Douglas County Board of Commissioners have issued a proclamation in honor of Veteran’s Day.

A release said the Board is expressing their support for the 66th annual Douglas County Veterans Day Parade and encouraging citizens to honor veterans and rededicate themselves to the preservation of our liberties under the Constitution of the United States. Commissioner Tim Freeman read the proclamation and presented it to members of the local Veterans Day Parade Committee, who were in attendance at the weekly business meeting on Wednesday.

This year the Grand Marshals for the parade will be veterans representing service to the nation during the “Post 9/11 Global War on Terrorism”. The parade will follow the traditional route starting at the corner of Northeast Fowler Street and Diamond Lake Boulevard. It will turn onto Jackson Street, turn left on Southeast Lane, then turn left again to Southeast Main Street. Then it turns onto Southeast Douglas, concluding in front of the courthouse. Citizens are encouraged to fill the space along the entire parade route.

Though the parade entry deadline has passed, late entries will be added to the parade lineup in the order in which they are received. Late entries are not judged.
