A man was jailed following an alleged assault on Wednesday.
A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said just after 9:45 a.m. the 26-year old man claimed a transient had been outside his window near the intersection of Reed Street and Main Street in Canyonville harassing him for the last few days.
The report said the man went out to confront the transient and followed him to a nearby porch. The man then swung at the transient and missed. He then grabbed the transient and made a jerking motion. This caused the transient to fall off the porch, ripping out the railing. The man landed on top of the transient who claimed he had extreme rib pain. The transient was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center where he was listed in fair condition at last check, according to a hospital spokesperson.
The suspect was charged with fourth-degree assault. Bail was set at $6,250.
