Roseburg Police jailed a juvenile male following an alleged stolen vehicle incident on Saturday.

An RPD report said just after 11:30 p.m. a sedan passed an officer heading eastbound on Newton Creek Drive. The officer turned around believing it was a vehicle from another case. The officer found it abandoned in the middle of Marlene Drive. Upon checking the plate, the officer determined it was stolen out of Coos Bay and a perimeter was set.

The report said the officer and a K9 tracked the suspect to a location in the 1500 block of Newton Creek where the juvenile was located. It was learned that the male had recently ran from a boy’s youth shelter on the coast and had allegedly stolen the vehicle from the parking lot of a market.

The male was lodged at Juvenile Detention.
