The Jack Fire, burning on the Umpqua National Forest 20 miles east of Glide, is 58 percent contained, and is at 21,609 acres.

An update from the Northwest Incident Management Team 10 said that 613 people are working at the fire.

Fire activity remains within containment lines north of Highway 138E. Patrol and mop up operations are continuing in that area.

South of Highway 138E, firefighters continue to have success containing fire activity within control lines along the western flank. Crews on the south end of the fire are prepping control lines for possible burning operations and scouting for alternative line. On the eastern flank, crews are successfully extinguishing small spot fires near the control line and plan to improve existing handline along the Twin Lakes road.

Firefighters are continuing to patrol the Dry Creek area and Horseshoe Bend campground.

For the safety of those in the area, the Umpqua National Forest closure orders remain in effect.
