Seven Feathers Casino Resort held a ribbon cutting for its new Takelma Roasting Company dining area on Wednesday.

The Takelma Roasting Company, owned by the Cow Creek Umpqua Tribe, began in 2017. A release said the artisan coffee company roasted a range of beans and became the internal coffee sources for the Cow Creek Tribe, providing coffee at all casino restaurants as well as other Cow Creek businesses. The company now sells its coffee products to a wide range of outside businesses as well.

The release said the new bistro-styled restaurant and bakery serves a wide range of “grab and go” food products, and seats approximately 60 guests. Takelma Roasting Company’s dining area replaces the Kabi Cafe’ that has operated within the Casino since 2009.

Cow Creek Tribal Board Chair Dan Courtney said the restaurant is “…in a prime location and allows families to sit and enjoy rather than having to take their food elsewhere to eat”.

Popular food items available at Kabi are also available at Takelma Roasting Company but additional products, offering tastes from every area of Oregon, are part of the menu. A range of homemade pastry products are created onsite, as are pies and cakes. Seven Feathers Casino Resort General Manager Shawn McDaniel said they even offer homemade wedding cakes.

The release said the kitchen and bakery items being prepared can be viewed by guests and visitors through a large window wall. Three pastry chefs work onsite to meet the need for pastries in the restaurant.

Takelma Roasting Company has also expanded its food offerings to include its own pizza oven for serving pizza, wings, and a room service menu for hotel guests.
