Douglas County Commissioners have announced that corrugated cardboard recycling is back at all Douglas County Transfer Stations.

All nine locations will now accept clean and dry corrugated cardboard for recycling. The Public Works, Solid Waste Division has placed specially designed recycling bins at all the transfer stations so residents can recycle corrugated cardboard free of charge. Corrugated cardboard must be flattened in order for it to fit in the new bins.

A release said the change is the result of the continued efforts by the county to find viable and cost-effective recycling alternatives, as well as source recycling partners and processing facilities willing to work with the county to recycle materials.

Residents should follow the instructions at the recycling centers, and only place items in bins that belong in that particular bin. Recyclables should be clean, free of debris, paper, and staples and not placed in the recycle bins in plastic bags.
