The Glide Water Association has issued an Emergency Water Conservation Notice to its customers.

The notice said that community usage is currently more than the plant can produce. Glide Water Association Office Manager Katy Wright said they are requiring all users to stop watering lawns and to curtail water use until the reservoirs can be filled. Wright said if usage is not reduced, the association runs the risk of running out of water within a day.

Wright told News Radio 1240 KQEN that the cause of the emergency notice is a combination of things like high water usage, leaks in the water system, and dry drought conditions. Wright said the main reservoir on the system is currently at eight feet when it should be operating at fourteen and a half feet. She said if users do not curb their water usage, the reservoir will drop to six feet and people will be without water.

Wright said that American Leak Detection will be coming out this week to help pinpoint any leaks.

Glide Water Association is working with state and federal funding agencies to secure project funding to help it upgrade the water treatment plant within the next two years, according to Wright.
