WOMAN ACCUSED OF STEALING FROM SEVERAL VICTIMS

A Roseburg woman has been arrested and accused of stealing from several victims at a care home operated by Umpqua Homes for the Handicap.

A Roseburg Police report said 44-year old Amanda Degarmo had been an employee of the organization for twenty years. The report said it was determined in February that she was stealing, and had allegedly taken close to $70,000 from eleven different victims over the last few years.

An officer stopped Degarmo Tuesday night at around 6:00 p.m. in the 2700 block of Northwest Gary Avenue. The report said the woman was also in possession of two handguns which were concealed in her purse. Degarmo said her concealed weapons permit had expired.

Degarmo was held on nine counts of first-degree forgery, eleven counts of second- degree forgery, eight counts of first-degree theft, three counts each of criminal mistreatment and aggravated theft, and for unlawful possession of a firearm. Bail was set at $1.375 million.
