EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING STARTS SATURDAY MORNING

June 23, 2021 2:50 p.m.

An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect for south-west and south-central Oregon beginning at 11:00 a.m. Saturday.

That includes much or all of Douglas, Josephine, Jackson, Curry and Klamath counties.

Forecasters said dangerously hot conditions with temperatures up to 112 degrees are expected. An Urgent Weather Message said extreme heat will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.

Forecasters said the high temperatures combined with warm overnight lows will result in high heat risk and heat related stress. Daily high temperature records will likely be broken. There is a slight chance to break the all-time June temperature.

The Excessive Heat Warning will remain in place until Tuesday evening.

The National Weather Service has an Excessive Heat Warning is in effect for much of northern Oregon beginning Friday afternoon and ending on Monday evening.
