A Sutherlin man was jailed by Roseburg Police following a pursuit early Friday.

An RPD report said at 12:30 a.m. an officer saw a pickup parked in the back lot of a business in the 1500 block of Southeast Stephens. The report said the vehicle headed north on Stephens at a very high rate of speed. The officer attempted to catch up with the pickup but it was allegedly going fast. An officer watched the pickup run a red light at the corner of Southeast Stephens and Southeast Lane.

The report said the vehicle continued onto Harvard and then north onto Interstate Five. The vehicle was traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour and passed two Oregon State Police troopers who were on a traffic stop a mile south of Winchester. The pickup yielded at the Winchester exit and the driver, 20-year old Michael King, was taken into custody.

The report said King was visibly impaired and arrested for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Charges included attempting to elude a police officer, reckless driving, three counts of recklessly endangering another person and for DUII. King was held on  $85,000 bail.
