A Winston man was jailed following an alleged assault incident late Thursday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at about 11:50 p.m. a victim said she had been assaulted and choked by 52-year old Michael Zupon at a residence in the 1000 block of Oak Hill Road.

A deputy arrived on the scene and the victim claimed the suspect had choked her two separate times. The woman said she was holding a minor child on both occasions. The report said the victim had red marks around her neck consistent with being choked.

Zupon was contacted at his residence and taken into custody. Charges included strangulation, fourth-degree assault and for harassment. After arraignment, bail was set at $10,000.
