PEDESTRIAN HIT BY VEHICLE ON FREEWAY

A North Bend woman was hit by a vehicle on Interstate Five on Wednesday night.

A report from Oregon State Police said just before 8:30 p.m. a sedan was northbound near the Garden Valley Boulevard exit when the driver observed a pedestrian on the shoulder of road, appearing to enter the lane of travel. The pedestrian continued crossing the freeway and the driver slowed down and switched to the left lane of travel.

The report said the pedestrian continued across into the left lane of travel and the driver slammed on their brakes in an attempt to stop. The vehicle struck the pedestrian, causing injury. The 38-year old woman was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center where she was treated and then released.
