Republican members of the Oregon House of Representatives have asked fellow GOP State Representative Mike Nearman to resign.
The House Republican Caucus hand delivered a letter to the representative from Independence on Monday. House Republican Leader Christine Drazen said “We have to hold ourselves to a higher standard in elected life and his actions doe not meet that standard”.
Nearman is facing criminal misconduct charges for his part in letting a group of protestors into the State Capitol building in Salem, on December 21st of last year during a Special Session of the Oregon State Legislature. Several news organizations are reporting the existence of a video showing Nearman coaching a group of people at a meeting in how they could get into the capitol on December 21st, with his assistance.
On the Lars Larson show on Monday, Nearman said he was not planning to resign.
